UNIT [[#|ONE]] TOPIC: Have to Have that Technical Know How: Innovation and The Age of Exploration

As Europeans begin to move beyond the confines of their continent and explore the rest of the world, populations in those areas they touch must [[#|deal]] with the consequences of the encounter. Through some perspectives, the increasing globalization of the world, beginning about the time of the Age of Exploration, had significant political, economic, social, and environmental consequences across the world. Some might also argue that this globalization process continues into the present day. In this, the first unit of the year, students will explore the role that new innovations played in the expansion of globalization during the Age of Exploration. This unit may serve as a review of material that was touched on the previous year and provide for students a new way to think about the role of innovation in human existence.
